Hey there 🤗
You’ll be such an incredible human if you:
Listen to my podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcast
Watch my last YouTube video!
Many creators sabotage themselves because they think: “I need to be creative to post quality content”
While it’s never the case.
Creativity is finding solutions to a specific problem.
That’s why we are entrepreneurs.
We want to offer a solution to our audience to help them.
We want to offer solution to our team to overcome a challenge.
Creativity doesn’t have to be original.
Creativity is about combining two different ideas together.
Creativity is about reclaiming ideas with your point of view.
Creativity is about creating something from something from something.
We can train our creativity.
It’s not something with a beginning & an end.
It’s an on-going process, that’s the only way to get better ideas.
The circle of creativity
Taking an idea
Transforming it with your point of view (who you are, how you think about this, what’s your sensibility)
Sharing, it allows your content to exist
The only criteria to be creative is to create more
What’s not good for getting ideas
You must cut the noise!
Creativity shows up only when you can listen your own thoughts
👉 Dopamine circuit kills creativity:
Scrolling on social media
Notifications
Short form content
Emails you check every minutes
All this extreme stimulation prevent you to think, to listen to yourself
→ You must find time to listen to your creativity & cut all the noise, cut yourself from the world
👉 Stop monitoring your niche, your competitors:
It’s just too overwhelming.
You are ending up comparing yourself.
You are feeling they do better than you.
You are seeing they just post something about your idea & you will not publish it
→ Go check other niches, people away from your expertise & see how they express their creativity
👉 Long content > Short content
From one long form, you can get many ideas.
While a short form will just give you nuggets to reuse.
Focus yourself one longer content.
You work on your creativity & also your ability to stay focus on different part
Why quantity matters more than quality
To get one good idea, you need dozens of them
To get these dozens of idea:
👉 You can leverage the time you engage on social media
Each time, you comment on a post, you can get at least one new idea, that you can reuse it to create a content on it’s own.
Your comment must be quality, must trigger an answer from the creator & even better if you get one from others!
You can also take the main idea from the post & transform it from your own perspective, prism.
Then you can also go through the comment section of a post & see how people react, what questions they ask, what are they point of view
→ so many opportunities for more ideas!
👉 Being a better listener
Having an open mind on the world around you
See how people act, talk, think, do things…
Living experiences are the best way to stimulate your creativity & get mew ideas on different topics
👉 Write down your thoughts (notebook)
Always have something to note everything.
Each thoughts can be a start for a storytelling post.
Each thoughts can be a start point for new ideas.
👉 Screen-free time
Your phone can be like a Dementor in Harry Potter
It can suck up all your soul, thoughts, ideas, willing to do things from your day.
Not touching your phone an entire morning is the best thing I have done so far.
It really relieves stress, anxiety, overthinking…
& you finally have time for you, your self-care, your goals.
👉 Follow your desires
Don’t be afraid to try new things, to listen to what excite you
This curiosity is what will fill your creativity too
Define what you want to talk about.
It’s also what makes you creative.
Doing things without pleasure won’t make you last in your business, you will burn out quickly & end up quick probably
If you don’t have any concern about a topic, it will be really hard to get ideas, to want to talk about it
While if it’s something that passionate you, it will be way more easy to find ideas, to be more creative about it
You have to learn to listen to your desire even if it doesn’t always have a business purpose behind.
If you want to do a masterclass because you want to, then go ahead! It serves your creativity
👉 Go for a walk / sauna / shower
If you force creativity, it will be 💩
You need to let come creativity to you.
If you struggle with it, you need to stop doing what you are doing & start to do something else.
When you are outside this environment, you start getting ideas.
Like under the shower, walking, do the dishes…
This is a constant.
3 exercises to develop your creativity
Write down all your beliefs about it → best to observe where you are today & have an critical eye on what you do today
List the phrases and thoughts you say to yourself when it comes to creativity. → see them from another point of view
For example: I'm a engineer, I'm not creative.
List the benefits of being blocked
An example: I stay blocked because I'm afraid to share my text and people will make fun of me.
Journaling
Practicing journaling can be a good thing.
Since I have implemented this habit, my creativity has been exponentially growing.
This put myself in a stage of creativity, making easier to get more ideas, to reflect on my thoughts, to write better content & much easier
Map of your creative safety
You are not as creative in any environment. There is some place where you are more creative than others. It’s normal.
The goal is to find where & use them for your creativity.
You need to define your allies on the map: people who will support you, the place where you are feeling good & things to do.
For example: my ideal creativity setup is where I have a hot coffee ready, my Airpods with French Rap, my Notion in full screen in the morning.
On the contrary, creating from the couch, at the end of the day… I will just force it, create crap, be frustrated of this crap… Or creating after scrolling on social media
Hit reply & tell me where you are the most creative!
Stay awesome,
Marlene 🤗
