Hey there 🤗
Lately, I have received some amazing comments about my tweets!
How they all learn so much from me as a creator and a person every day!
Let me explain myself.
On my birthday, I have posted a tweet about my personal story. What I have accomplished in my 27 years on Earth.
It’s when I have decided to get more personal in my content.
To show my vulnerabilities.
To show the ugly of my journey.
To show the real Marlene, the human behind X.
I want to become your unfiltered, friendly, and sometimes way-too-honest buddy.
Think of me as the friend who points out when you have spinach stuck in your teeth.
Awkward, yes.
Necessary?
ABSOLUTELY.
Here’s the spinach of today:
Our content world? It’s becoming a sea of vanilla.
Creamy, yes. But seriously lacking the zing and zesty flavors. Everyone’s sick of the same ol’ content sandwich.
If you feel stuck or aren’t seeing those sweet metrics rising, perhaps you’ve been blending in, rather than standing out.
The secret ingredient to turn that around?
DARE TO BE YOURSELF.
Sounds obvious, right? But like hot sauce, a little daring can transform a dish (or a tweet, post, or email).
Imagine the online space as a crowded marketplace.
Everyone’s shouting, but only a few are being heard.
The ones who’re brave enough to wear funky hats, juggle, or sing a catchy tune.
Because face it, doing the same dance as everyone else won’t get you noticed.
Now, I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, but here's a peek into my rollercoaster:
Starting off with my newsletter, I was ecstatic writing for... just 161 eyeballs.
Not the crowd I was expecting.
I could've blamed my cat or the weather, but the reality was I was holding back.
Why? Because I was scared of being too “me”.
But I realized something important: I don't care what others think.
I am who I am, and to hell with the rest.
There will always be people to encourage you and others to bring you down. So I won't hold back my ability to be brave because some people might judge me or not appreciate my work.
It's MY path. It's MY life. It's MY business.
I decide, and to hell with anyone who doesn't like it.
And the more I'm able to connect with my personal story and show my flaws and rough edges without fear of judgment, the more I'll be able to create content that oozes who I am and that stands out.
Letting go of the expectations that weigh on my shoulders allows me to break down my barriers and create what I want.
And that's where little by little, I'm learning to harness my vulnerabilities & create content that makes me different from everyone else.
Because it's me, and no one else can be me.
So what hides within you when you manage to break the barrier?
What hides within you when you dare to be yourself and put your guts on the table?
I'm willing to bet it's anything but bland and dull content.
That's where the real, the alive, the memorable lies.
The words & ideas that will touch the people who matter to you forever.
To your true self,
Marlene 🤗
I like how you think. We have to own ourselves.
