Hey there 🤗
Brace yourselves for a roller coaster ride because this ain't just another edition of our beloved 'Sunday Spotlights'.
It's my birthday edition!
Yes, I’m just turning 27! I’ve added another candle to my life’s cake today, and boy, it's hot! 🔥
If you had told me a couple years ago that I'd be here, sharing my experiences with thousands of you, rather than working at the reception on my birthday, I'd have burst out laughing. Yet, here we are, turning dreams into reality with Notion. 🚀
Before we dive deep into today's edition, I have a special birthday request.
My first product on Product Hunt is still live for a few more hours, and your support would be the icing on my birthday cake.
Please go, have a look, and give it an upvote if you like it for my Canva Mockups Templates! 🙏
Now, let’s hop onto this week's 🙋♀️ Sunday's Burning Question:
"What happens when life gives you lemons at 27?" 🍋
Truth bomb coming in 3...2...1. When I imagined turning 27, I envisioned myself in a swanky corner office, adoring my two (non-existent) kids' photos on a sleek desk, all while sipping a latte in a big house with a bigger mortgage.
Oh, and of course, driving a car so big it needed its own zip code.
News flash: My reality is far from this picture, but it’s better than I could have ever planned.
I’ve discovered that the journey isn't about 'having it all'. It's about 'finding it all' within yourself and your own experiences.
I am no Dalai Lama, but my journey has taught me a few things, and as your friendly neighbourhood solopreneur, I'd love to share them with you:
You are unique, and that's your power. Your differences are your strengths, not weaknesses.
You’re not lazy. You might just be stuck in a job that feels like watching paint dry. Once you find your passion, you'll be on fire!
You're the CEO of your life. Yes, even the mistakes department. Own them, learn from them, and move on.
Failure is the universe's way of saying, "Wrong direction, buddy!" Every failure is a lesson wrapped in a thick layer of adversity.
Other people's opinions are like elevator music. It's there, but you don't have to dance to it.
Your Control Zone is the new comfort zone. It's not about having control over everything. It's about knowing what you can influence, and where you can make a difference.
Invest in experiences, not things. Because at the end of the day, you won't remember the brand of your phone, but you'll remember the feeling of the sand between your toes on that beach holiday.
Criticizing others is like throwing boomerangs. It won’t do you any good and will only come back to hurt you.
Dare to take your place. You’re not stealing the spotlight; you’re simply claiming your part of it.
People are like seasons, they come and go. Some will stick around for a lifetime, some for a season. Cherish them, but don’t be afraid to let them go.
And there are 17 more such nuggets of wisdom coming your way this Wednesday. Stay tuned!
I hope these insights resonate with you, even if it's just a tiny bit. After all, if I can help at least one of you, I can proudly say, I have nailed my job! 💪
I'd love to hear from you! What's your take on these topics? Any experiences you'd like to share? You know the drill - hit that reply button and let the thoughts flow.
Remember, we've got loads more Spotlights to share, fun to have, and lessons to learn together. Here's to adding another great year to our journey! 🥂
Until next time,
Marlene 🤗
